Back and refreshed

Woohoo…I’m back from my trip from the mighty land where ancient civilizations were born. It was a trip of a life time! Simply spectacular! I’m so happy that we were able to do this at this time in life. However, I was ready come back after 8 days of heat and non-stop travel. Now I’m jet-lagged and a bit sick. I still feel I’m in the desert, dehydrated and sleep deprived. I’ll be back to my regular schedule once I catch up on some sleep. I have a loooooot to share, not to mention, many pictures of amazing sights of Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and Abu Simbel. For now, here is one for your eye candy … the panoramic view of the Pyramids in Giza.

A trip to Los Cabos

Turns out I have become a big time procrastinator this year. Instead of keeping up with my work and other important activities, I’m putting things aside and forming a stronger bond with my television. Sigh! I keep thinking that I would post the pictures from my recent trip to Cabo, but I end  up watching another movie and falling asleep on my comfy couch. Weather is not cooperating either! Non-stop rain is only making me want to sleep more. But finaly, I’m able to share a few pictures from my trip. I thought I had a lot to share, bit I realized that I didn’t take that many pictures this time (like any other time actually)! So here you go, a few snaps, mostly taken from the car on our road trip to Todos Santos and a few from the boat ride.

On our second day at Cabo, we decided to rent a car and take a day trip to Todos Santos. It’s a small town about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas. I took random pictures from the car. My goal was to take pictures of anything that looks unusual and interesting.

There were Cactus every where. I thought it was beautiful!

I read on a magazine that “Art & Beer” is the place for beautiful art and good beer. We found it right by the highway.

And when you want to carry around your beer, use this…

Want boots? Got boots!
cabo-154

Right outside an art gallery we saw this and terminator came into my mind. This is an electric meter!
cabo-146

We also went for whale watching. We took a water taxi and went right into the pacific ocean.

And the whale was right there…not one, not two, but many…I caught the tail of one of them.
cabo-214

We visited the Medano beach. See the rows of fancy resorts in the background?
cabo-67

Of course, there was a cruise ship…
cabo-18

We stayed in between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. It was a smaller resort, more like suites, but a beautiful place with private beach. LOVED it!

It was a pretty short trip, but quite relaxing. It started raining right before we left for the airport. I’m pretty sure we are going back there in the near future, may be sooner than we think…

The old-faithful, llamas and the fainting goats

It was my hubby’s birthday a week ago, so his friends came over for a weekend to celebrate his big day with us. It’s also a tradition among the friends to meet up once a year, spend a few days together and go all crazy. It was only four of them first, then came along the wives of two of them, now it’s a group of six. Four years ago they were united for our wedding, the next year we all went to Yosemite for camping, a year later one of them got married in San Diego (I photographed their wedding at La Jolla) and this year they were all here and we went to Napa valley. Usually it’s not a big deal when friends get together, but one of these guys travel all the way from Kansas to reunite in Nor Cal. I think it’s very special and so much fun!

Trip to Napa this time was one of a kind! We didn’t visit the wineries, instead we decided to drive up to Calistoga to see The Old Faithful Geyser of California. Not only that, we also saw the fainting goats for the first time. I never heard about the fainting goats before, neither did I believe that the goats can actually faint until I saw it happen! I feel bad for being mean to the poor goats; we tried to scare them by screaming and making loud noise. The little ones couldn’t take the shock of it and collapsed on the ground immediately. They recovered in a few seconds though.

The geyser was awesome! We waited twenty minutes for the water to blow off the ground.

Curtis and Audrey joined us for the weekend. Last year we were in San Diego for their wedding.

And there was Mr. Llama, he wasn’t very excited with the prospect of being photographed!

Here is a fainting goat, he just collapsed and after about 10 seconds he stood up.

A big move is on the way

It’s coming! It’s coming! You’ll see the fruit if you can wait a few more days! What is it now? It’s a part of all the good stuff that are happening to my business. It’s one more thing in addition to the new logo, website, etc.

I have a busy weekend ahead. Summer concert in the Bay area, followed by a fabulous e-session in SF is on my plate. But I don’t want to leave you here with nothing! Enjoy a few highlights from my recent trip to up North.

Driving to Vancouver from Seattle. By the way, Seattle is one my favorite places. It’s in my list of places when I decide to move out of California.

Surrey is a small town in BC right off the US border.

It was our lucky day in Gas Town, Vancouver. They were having a Jazz festival.

Caught a sight of Mount Rainier from the aeroplane.

Oh Canada!

Over the long weekend J and I took a 3-day trip to visit my family in Toronto. This was one of those trips that was too short to even realize. It seemed like I was there for a day or so. We had a great time there, seeing friends and family. The weather was wonderful, unlike the ninty-something degrees here in Roseville. We actually brought the winter jackets with us!

Now the vacation is over, I have a super busy (and fun) weekend ahead. Can’t wait for the awesome wedding followed by a fabulous engagement shoot in next two days! In the meantime, enjoy a few shots of the City of Toronto.
The famous CN Tower.
Stunning view from top of the CN tower… the City by Lake Ontario. Do you see the shadow of the CN tower? This post won’t be complete if I don’t show off my beautiful niece and nephew. Amazing how kids grow so fast!

Apple picking at Applehills

Apple Hills, CA(30-mins from Sacramento, 1-hr from my house) is well known for the apple orchards and beautiful vineyards. You can go there during the apple season and pick your own apple. Jason and I go there every year, but we return home with a big, delicious dutch apple pie. We never get to pick apples ’cause the season is over by the time we get there. This year we tagged along with a few other friends who were as enthusiastic about apple picking at the Apple Hills.

We ended up going to an orchard which was also a vineyard. The owner said “Grapes are free if you can find any.” So we walked through the grape vines in search for grapes; we ended up finding a lot!

Sunny, my friend, loves apple. It was fun watching her going from tree to tree to pick the golden delicious. We ended up with buckets full of grapes and apples by end of the time.
My friend Sheila also joined us. She is expecting her baby in November. She is gorgeous and glowing at her seven-month pregnancy! I am very excited for her to start the new family soon with her new baby boy!
It was an extremely hot day! You’d think that the weather would be cool enough there since summer had officially ended a few days back. But it was upper 90′s at the Apple Hills. Despite the heat we had a lot of fun! It was a success this time; we managed to make it there during the apple season :) Not only we returned home with an apple pie, but also with freshly picked apples and grapes from Applehills.

Comparison shopping || Through the (side)mirror

I was looking through the pictures from various trips we have taken over the years and realized that most of the pictures are taken from cars in 80-mile speed. Evidently I don’t take that many pictures when I am not in a vehicle(unless it’s a wedding or any other event). So anyways, I was randomly browsing and found several shots that captured beautiful views through the side mirror of a moving car. I just wanted to share a few here.

Please note “Objects in mirror are closer than they appear” :) )

Sedona, AZ 2006

This one gives me motion sickness ;)
Maui, HI 2007

Highway 1, CA 2008

The first three were taken with Jason’s ancient 3mp camera that is no longer in operation. The last one is straight out of my Rebel XT(poor rebel worked really hard in the past few years …). I should also mention that I’m now a proud owner of a 5D. I tried it out last night, it is worth every penny! Can’t wait to use it this weekend!
